Hello Family,
I just wanted to pass along a few updates for the family reunion next year.
1. Hotel Update: We will be staying at the
Hyatt Place Buckhead.
The group rate for the hotel rooms will be $99/night, which is a
wonderful rate. This rate will only apply to family members who stay at
the hotel during the entire family reunion, Thursday night through
Sunday morning. Any family member unable to commit to staying the full
time will need to work directly with the hotel to secure a room.
To reserve one of the rooms in the family reunion block, you will need to send one night's payment, which must be received by
May 1, 2013, to:

There will be
no exception to this because the
discounted rate expires on May 2nd at 12:00 midnight.
You will need to
fill out the attached form
and mail a cashier's or certified check for $115 payable to Candace
Doby. Your deposit will go toward your hotel stay. The reason we have to
collect one night's stay as a security deposit is because we will be
entering into a contractual agreement with the hotel and cannot have
family members hold rooms and then not show. If you pay a deposit but do
not show up, your money will not be returned. After deposits have been
collected, I will give instructions to family members about how to
secure a room in the block. It is important to note that we will only
get a discounted rate if 10 rooms are reserved. If I don't receive
commitments (checks) for 10 rooms by May 1st, then everyone will pay
market rate, which is currently $140/night + tax.
2. Family
Reunion Fee: There will be a fee for attending next year's family
reunion in order to
cover costs for: pavilion rental fees, food for a cook-out, snacks,
parking for activities, etc. Adults will be accessed $35 and children
under 17, $20.
You will have until March 15, 2014 to pay the
family reunion fee, but you have the option to include payment with the
hotel security deposit.
